Your
First Visit
What
Should I Expect During The First Visit?
Your first appointment is a clinical exam to determine your orthodontic
needs.
Dr. Lucas will examine how your teeth and jaws fit together and function,
as well as check the health of your gums and soft tissues. He will inform
you about any problems he discovers, and describe the necessary corrective
therapy, the length of treatment and the associated fees. Treatment
may begin the same day of your initial visit, by taking records. Records
include study models, photos and x-rays.
If there are any problems that should be corrected, these records are
needed to fully diagnose the problems and determine the specific treatment.

Why
Do I Need Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is a specialized field of dentistry that focuses on the
correct alignment of the teeth and jaws. This plays an important role
in improving overall oral health. Gaps between the teeth, or teeth that
are crowded, turned or protruded, are the most common signs that a person
may need orthodontic treatment. But sometimes the need for braces isn’t
that obvious. When teeth do not come together properly, they can wear
unevenly. In some cases this can contribute to malfunctions of the jaw
joint, or distortion and instability of the bite.
It is our goal to assure that your teeth fit together correctly,
as well as to achieve balance and harmony between your
teeth and face for a beautiful smile.
